The song that I chose is “Upside Down” by Jack Johnson.  Here is a link to a video of the song:

Who’s to say
What’s impossible
Well they forgot
This world keeps spinning
And with each new day
I can feel a change in everything
And as the surface breaks reflections fade
But in some ways they remain the same
And as my mind begins to spread its wings
There’s no stoppin’ curiosity

I wanna turn the whole thing upside down
I’ll find the things they say just can’t be found
I’ll share this love I find with everyone
We’ll sing and dance to Mother Nature’s song
I don’t want this feeling to go away

Who’s to say
I can’t do everything
Well I can try
And as I roll along I begin to find
Things aren’t always just what they seem

I wanna turn the whole thing upside down
I’ll find the things they say just can’t be found
I’ll share this love I find with everyone
We’ll sing and dance to Mother Nature’s song
This world keeps spinning and there’s no time to waste
Will it all keep spinning and spinning round and round and

Upside down
Who’s to say whats impossible and can’t be found
I don’t want this feeling to go away

Please Don’t go away
is this how it’s supposed to be

Poetic Lines:
1) And as my mind begins to spread its wings

2) We’ll sing and dance to Mother Nature’s song

3) Things aren’t always just what they seem

Why I think they are poetic:

1) I like this line because of the message it’s conveying; opening up your mind, and accepting different people and ideas.

2) This line is just really abstract and makes you imagine someone being one with mother nature and being happy and free spirited.

3) I like this because I agree with this line, I think that if you look at things from a different view/ different perspective then the meaning can change.  Almost like things aren’t as bad as they seem, or if you view something from someone else’s perspective you might gain a better respect for that person or situation.

His art is very traditional with the poses of the men and the backgrounds and colors, but it’s also very contemperary with the africian american men that he paints for the subjects.

My first reaction to his artwork is that I think it’s funny and creative.  They make you think, and they’re not like other typical graffiti that you see on city walls.

I personally believe that most graffiti is art.  I can understand how if I owned a buisness I would disklike grafiti on my walls, but unless it’s something offensive I think graffiti is artwork.  I think that he uses a persona so that he doesn’t get in trouble with the police, and also it’s more fun if it’s a mystery.

I think that everyone should be able to see your artwork, so that they can enjoy it.

I chose this picture for my first post because it kind of just describes my personality; laid back, relaxed, ect.   I also love the photo, it was beautifully captured, and it makes me wish that I was there.  You don’t know quite where it is, but you can tell that it is somewhere relaxing and warm.
